Le 26 décembre 2004, Mieszko, frontman emblématique de Nasum, périt dans le terrible tsunami qui toucha l’Asie du Sud-est…
Ce groupe culte à la discographie extrêmement garnie nous laisse à travers cette compilation composée d’un double album, un ultime témoignage cent pour cent grindcore. Si vous vous dites fan de grind, inutile d’en lire plus, Grind Finale est pour vous. Ces deux disques, avant même d’être pressés, avaient déjà atteint le statut de compilation culte ! Toute l’intensité du rouleau compresseur qu’est Nasum se voit réuni dans cet opus. Ici, il n’y a pas de temps mort, pas de perte de temps, pas de fioritures. Ca blast, ça bastonne, la batterie cataclysmique ramone l'auditeur, les chants corrosifs attaquent le cerveau, etc... En gros, cette galette est obligatoire à tous fans de grind !
Le premier disque rassemble des morceaux datant des débuts de Nasum, fortement marqués par la présence de voix gutturales et très peu par la voix criarde de Mieszko. L’autre CD comprend des morceaux de 1997 jusqu'au dernier album du groupe, Shift. Le tout regroupé avec des reprises de Napalm Death et de Carcass, tous les titres de la formation fait office de matraquage auditif, nettoyage des cages à miel, cassage de cervicales et que sais-je encore. La multitudes de morceaux (inédits pour certains) font retrouver à l’amateur du groupe, ce qu’il a tant chéri pendant de longues années. Au niveau de la production, je m’attendais à des chutes d’album avec un son pur grind (ou exécrable, ça dépend des versions), au final, la production est à l’image de Grind Finale, énorme !
Comme vous pouvez vous en douter, faire une critique purement objective d'un double album, 152 morceaux (dont la plupart n’atteigne pas 2 minutes), d'une durée totale de plus de deux heures, ce n’est pas chose facile. Mais honnêtement, si on aime un minimum le style, cet achat est presque indispensable.
Enfin, il faut savoir que cette compilation n’est pas une occasion pour le groupe de se faire du blé sur le dos de Mieszko. En effet, de son vivant, il avait lui-même déjà entrepris de faire ce genre de compilation.
